Shark Girl

Over EXPO week/Winter Collective I read Shark Girl written by Kelly Bingham. This book is about a fifteen-year-old girl named Jane who one day at the beach is attacked by a shark. They have to amputate her arm and the rest of the book is about her readjusting to her new life. I really liked this book because it was not only about the attack but also the process of how she had to deal with it. It was written in the first person so you got to know her thoughts and her perspective.  Overall it was a really good book and I recommend it.

Slice of Life

One minute on the clock we are down by three points. We shot a three- pointer and its in the hoop in a flash. The clock ticks down second by second. We are tied. The last second we have the ball and right as that buzzer rings through the gym seeming like the loudest thing, it is not. It is the swish of the hoop letting us know that we have won the game.

The One and Only Ivan

For my short younger classic I read The One and Only Ivan written by Katherine Applegate. This book is about a silver back gorilla named Ivan who lives at a circus with a stray dog named Bob and an elephant named Stella. One day a baby elephant arrives at the circus and Ivan promises Stella to make sure that this baby elephant one day can live in a better happier place. I really liked this book. I thought it was really well written and the story even though it could maybe never happen the way it was written was really believable. Overall even though this book is younger it still is definitely a classic and if you have not read it you should.

Savvy

This week I read Savvy. It was a easy read, but it was around 350 pages. It starts out with a girl named Mississippi whose family Has something a bit different about them. Once a person in their family turns 13 you get a "gift," but you do not know what it is until you have it.  This book had a lot of twist and turns that I really enjoyed.
